For years, the Malvern Child and Youth Care Centre in Durban has been a lifeline for vulnerable children. However, we are currently facing a critical challenge: a crippling municipal debt. In 2019, we owed over R1 million, and through the generous support of our community, we managed to reduce it to R500k in 2020 and R216k in 2022. Despite our ongoing fundraising efforts, we've fallen short, and our municipal account is now in arrears of R535,567. This debt puts us at immediate risk of electricity and water disconnections, which would severely impact the lives of the 77 vulnerable children in our care. While a government grant provides partial support, we rely heavily on the kindness of community donations to bridge the funding gap. We urgently need your help to eliminate this debt and ensure a safe and stable environment for these children.
